The Caring Adult Day Healthcare Center

With more than 30 years of experience, our center is licensed by the Commonwealth of Kentucky as a medical model.  Our staff consists of caring people with specialized training to meet the needs of our clients.  A licensed nurse oversees the day-to-day activities and is available should a healthcare concern arise.  We offer our seniors socialization and activities in an away-from-home setting, as well as permitting some personal time for caregivers to work or just take a nap.

Each client is unique, and we want their experience to be personal.  We live in their moment.  Our clients named us the Golden Agers Club and affectionately call us "The Club", so we are thought of as a fun meeting place, where they go home at the end of the day.  You can feel confident your loved one is given the social, mental, and physical stimulation their individual ability will tolerate, and they are safe.

The Adult Day Healthcare Center is located in our Oldham County Senior Life Enrichment Center in Buckner at 1015 Dispatchers Way.  Our services are available Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.  Scheduling is flexible to meet the caregiver’s needs; you choose the hours and days for attendance.  Optional transportation to and from the center may be arranged to increase the client’s feeling of independence or because it is needed.

Our clients, are typically, over 60 years of age and need supervision because of dementia caused by Alzheimer’s disease, a stroke, Parkinson’s disease, or nearly 150 other medical conditions.  They have difficulty thinking clearly or making good/safe choices.  However, people who may wander off or may be easily agitated or aggressive will be considered on an individual basis.

Each day, we offer a light breakfast to clients arriving by 9:30 am and provide lunch and an afternoon snack.  We will work with caregivers to respect dietary needs.  Our activities may include a variety of music, light exercise, discussions, reading, games, cards, or TV.  Depending on the client’s attention, we can change activities as quickly as 15 minutes.  Clients may be working by themselves, in a small, or large group.  We give assistance based on individual needs, including activity participation, setting up a meal, eating, medications, and personal hygiene.

Most of our clients are private payors because Medicare does not cover Adult Day services; although, if you have a long-term care or other policy, we can help you file for benefits.  We work to keep our fees the lowest in Kentucky.  Further, we accept VA benefits and Medicaid after authorization, which usually covers transportation too.

Consider this – dementia alone is not a medical reason to be admitted into an expensive, 24/7 nursing home facility.  Maybe you need time to consult an attorney, make preparations, relocate, or sell a home.  We are always open to meeting new friends.  Caring for someone with dementia can be exhausting, mentally and physically.  It takes a team, and we are here to help!  Check us out early…do not wait until you are completely overwhelmed.  Contact our Adult Day representative at 502-222-1349 for more information and to request an admission packet.
