Senior Life Enrichment Centers
Through the Title III program, TCCAA operates three Senior Life Enrichment Centers that serve as focal points for the rural communities we serve. The primary purpose of the senior center is to enhance the quality of life for older adults. The centers support the seniors in their efforts to keep active and preserve their independence by promoting wellness, personal fulfillment and self-esteem. Services provided include:
Advocacy: Action taken on behalf of an older person to secure his/her rights or benefits. Staff receives, investigates, and works with clients on how to write letters or talk to people to resolve disputes or complaints.
Congregate Meals: Seniors are offered a nutritionally balanced noon meal in a social group setting.
Counseling: Conducted by a certified, licensed or trained individual who through interviewing and listening with a sympathetic ear assist clients to enable them to resolve problems or relieve temporary stresses they encounter.
Education: Formal and informal opportunities are offered for individuals to acquire knowledge, experience or skills in such areas as nutrition; crime or accident prevention; or promote personal enrichment to increase or gain skills.
Exercise: Variety of available fitness opportunities and classes as well as planned activities to increase mobilization.
Health Promotion: Provides services designed to maintain or improve the health and wellbeing of participants, including health screening and assessments, organized physical fitness activities, home injury control and prevention strategies for chronic disease and other health conditions.
Information & Assistance: Provides individuals with current information on opportunities and services available within their communities.
Outreach: Staff contacts older persons within the community to assess their needs and to encourage them to use services that are available.
